GUDAR MOUNTAINS
The mountain range of Gudar, is formed by a massif
of high mountain (Peñarroya peak 2019 m),
where we find the source of the rivers Guadalope,
Mijares, Linares, y Alfambra; while the mountain
range of Javalambre, has its peak of Javalambre
(2020m), as well as a compound of tubular high-plateaus
or "muelas". Both of them contain plenty
of pine forests, oak trees and maple trees, which
grow thanks to the rainy climate. on the other hand,
if we speak of the fauna, we must say we can find
various species of birds of prey, as well as trouts
in most of the rivers between other.
Most of its villages still conserve the traces
of medieval constructions such as the so strongly
defended Mosqueruela, the "casonas" of
Rubielos de Mora, or the division in different medieval
quarters of Mora de Rubielos. We can also find traces
of the gothic style in some constructions such as
the "Colegiata de Santa Maria de Mora",
and it's castle of Levantine-gothic style, the same
style as in the "Puertomingalvo" and the
castles, defence walls and frames at Mora de Rubielos,
Mosqueruela and Linares, including the façade
of the church of Mosqueruela.
These villages also conserve some of the works
of the Renaissance, with special mention to the
church of Alcala de la Selva, and we can find some
traces of the Baroque style in the church of Puertomingalvo,
in the town hall of Linares, and in the churches
of Villarluengo and Gúdar in harmony with
traces of neoclassical style.
The region of Gúdar-Javalambre has the charm
of its gastronomy and its beautiful landscape; one
can sample, in any of the villages, the tasty Jam,
or the Cecina (cures sliced beef), and enjoy beautiful
views of natural landscapes, where one can practice
all kinds of winter and mountain sports, and enjoy
the trout-fishing sites of the rivers Villarluengo,
Pitarque, Sarrion, Mora de Rubielos, Valbona
